History:
Personality:
Age: Loki is thousands of years old, though he currently bears the physical form of a young adult.
Gender: Loki is canonly genderfluid. Though he spends the majority of his time in the form of a male, I will use female pronouns when she is in her female form (which is a true shapeshift, not merely an illusion). In Original Sin, Odin refers to his three children, Thor, Angela, and Loki, thusly: "My son and daughter and my child who is both".

History:
Here is an overall rundown of Loki's history since the creation of the character in Marvel comics: http://marvel.wikia.com/Loki_Laufeyson_%28Earth-616%29
This is a more detailed rundown on his history from his rebirth to when Kid Loki was murdered (which is not technically the Loki I'm playing, but he has all those memories and it's Complicated) http://marvel.wikia.com/Kid_Loki_%28Earth-616%29
Here is a more detailed focus on the actual issue he's coming from: http://marvel.wikia.com/Loki:_Agent_of_Asgard_Vol_1_1
Personality:
Loki is literally the Norse god of mischief. Let's break that down.
Norse god
Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the 616 Marvel universe, the Asgardians are literally gods. They exist in and are shaped by myth and legend, and Loki is one of the classic villains of the Norse mythological pantheon. This is a fact that Loki is unable to escape.
But he tries.
Loki hates to be constrained by anything. He wants it all - all the power. All of it. He has died to escape the bonds of story, which had driven him away from his more light-hearted trickster origins onto a darker and purely evil path. He avoided the cycle of Ragnarok, and made a deal with Hela to ensure that his spirit wouldn't go to Hel after he died. Everything he does, wheels within wheels within wheels, are ultimately with the long-term goal of gaining more power for himself, and escaping anything that might smack of fate or control of others over him.
Nothing he does is for only a single purpose. He might seem to be fighting for a particular cause, but every time you think you've got a handle on what Loki really wants, it turns out that he's got three other things he's working towards as well.
He's a millennia-old god. He is capable of shaping the very fabric of reality. He's superior in every way to the mortals he hangs around with, and that's just the way it is. And he's also cute and charming as heck.
of Mischief
Debatably, though Loki continues to thirst for power, he no longer seeks deliberately to cause rampant destruction and murder. The old Loki has a body count probably in the literal millions, and never cared one bit. He had so much anger and resentment towards his adopted family that he fought to kill Thor and the other Asgardians over and over again, and many times he has nearly succeeded. In fact, recently he really did succeed - but at the last moment he sacrificed his own life to stop the total destruction of Asgard.
Of course, that was for his own purposes as well.
He was reincarnated and it turns out that his sacrifice was for the express purposes of escaping the fate that he had gotten locked into - to become the god of mischief again, instead of the god of evil. The new Loki seems to be trying to accomplish at least some good in the world and make up for what he's done. He feels guilt for what he has done in the past, and he doesn't actually want the world to end or anything. I mean, that's where he keeps all his stuff.
Also if he were all by himself, who would he show off to? That'd suck.
So Loki is struggling not to fall back into old patterns, and he's only half succeeding. He was reborn as a child, innocent and mischievous and really determined not to be old evil Loki. Just as he managed to mostly convince everyone that he really did honestly want to be good and change, the spirit of his old self devoured him and took over his body.
Welp. So much for that, right? He's evil Loki in cute Loki's body, right? We're all going to die. Also, hardly anybody knows this happened.
But it seems as though cute Loki has had a strong influence on his old self, and it appears that he really has changed. Old Loki destroyed New Loki, and was himself changed through that act. Form follows function - and to a god, perception, story, and myth are real. He's taken on the physical form of the New Loki, so possibly, just possibly, Loki didn't so much destroy the new version of himself, as merge with it.
So Loki is a trickster, he's a planner, he's supremely power hungry, he's fiendishly, terrifyingly intelligent and almost completely merciless in carrying out his plans. He's also lonely as heck, mistrusted by all, wracked with guilt, and pretending that he doesn't care, and occasionally possibly, he is just a tiny bit heroic, though usually that's at least partially in service to some other selfish cause.
Most significantly in terms of change, the new(ish) Loki appears to be capable of forming emotional connections in a way he couldn't - or perhaps wouldn't - in the past. Loki seems to love his brother, seems to have actually cared for Leah for real, and seems to have overall left behind quite a bit of the anger that used to drive him to destruction and murder.
The only question is, how long will that last?
Age: Loki is thousands of years old, though he currently bears the physical form of a young adult.
Gender: Loki is canonly genderfluid. Though he spends the majority of his time in the form of a male, I will use female pronouns when she is in her female form (which is a true shapeshift, not merely an illusion). In Original Sin, Odin refers to his three children, Thor, Angela, and Loki, thusly: "My son and daughter and my child who is both".
Appearance:
Loki is a shapeshifter and has taken many forms. However, his usual appearance is as a young, attractive man just out of his teens, with dark hair and green eyes. He wears a crown with two golden horns, which he can remove, but which appear to also be a part of him. The horns appear to get longer as he ages and becomes more powerful. He tends to wear green and gold, Asgardian-style clothing. Lately he wears a sort of quilted tunic, black fingerless gloves, black pants, boots, and dark green nailpolish.
As a woman, her appearance is similar, though she has a voluptuous figure and long curly black hair.
Abilities/Powers:
- Magic: Loki is a magic user with uncharted power. He is particularly well-versed in illusions, though he is known to teleport, use locator spells, and create wards. He can create magical contracts that bind someone, and enchant objects with special abilities. He can summon eldritch monsters, and banish them once more. He has ruled Hell, travelled all the planes of existence, and consumed libraries worth of arcane knowledge. He appears to be able to travel time and dimensions at will. ALL THAT SAID, Loki is currently in a smaller and weaker body, and is therefore limited. Kid Loki had no magical power at first, though by Young Avengers he was able to use magic in a limited way. His magic is also not always totally under his control. By Agent of Asgard, it's clear that Loki has regained even more of his power, but his body limits his abilities to some extent.
- Asgardian: As a literal god, Loki is immune to most physical hardships. He can survive the cold and vacuum of space. He has superhuman strength (though not as much as Thor) and weighs several hundred pounds. He has superhuman stamina and durability and can survive falls from great heights and being punched through buildings, and will then quickly regenerate.
- Shapeshifter: As in Norse mythology, Loki can not only use illusion to transform himself, but can literally transform himself into other forms. Loki stated that he can turn himself into anything, so long as it's still him. As such, he can become a woman, or a magpie, but not a cockroach, because he's not a cockroach sort of person.
- Languages: Loki speaks the god's tongue, which is heard by all mortals as their own native language. He has advanced knowledge, and can read most arcane and obscure languages (though not all)
- Lies: Loki is the god of lies. He is a skilled liar. Though everyone KNOWS they shouldn't trust him, and he encounters opposition and mistrust everywhere he goes, people nevertheless somehow wind up doing what he wants anyway. At least, until things get out of control and start crashing down around his ears.
- Other Skills: Loki is also an excellent swordsman, and wields Gram, the Sword of Truth. He has learned a great deal about modern Earth culture, and is an accomplished hacker and user of the internet. He writes slash fanfiction about superheros and publishes it on the internet. He enjoys playing video games, and has a tumblr account. He carries three different ways to turn invisible on his person at all times, and wears seven-league boots that allow him to balance on a laundry line and climb Stark Tower.
Personal Items:
- Gram, the Sword of Truth (he is able to summon it from thin air so... I think it fits the guidelines for his single weapon)
- His coat of shadow thread (grants invisibility)
- Seven-League boots
- One set of his clothing
- Medallion that also grants invisibility
- A jar of mixed lies (corruption purged from Thor's body)
- A set of chains (probably made of adamantium)
- Cellphone
- A set of magical tools (basically a small box containing stuff like chalk, eye of newt, the basic stuff needed to do simple magical spells)
- A set of mundane thieves' tools (lock picks, safe cracker etc.)
